Project and Portfolio Management
Imagine a world where...
OIT’s project and portfolio management isn't a one-size-fits-all approach. You have the process and framework to provide a sound model that best suits the needs of each individual project. Whether utilizing agile, waterfall or a hybrid of the two, you can manage project intake and delivery with consistent operational governance all through one IT Business Management solution from ServiceNow.
Enhance Project and Portfolio Management
OIT’s current project and portfolio management approach is aligned with the waterfall methodology where project planning is estimated upfront and executed step-by-step in a linear fashion from intake to delivery. While this approach works well for highly-structured projects involving work that can be estimated with high confidence, not all projects fall into this category. In fact, agile is the industry standard for implementing software developments.
The Enhance Project and Portfolio Management project will reimagine the current approach to increase efficiencies and recognize opportunities for process improvements as well as define project management processes that can benefit from agile concepts. All of this will bring OIT closer to a more efficient, visible and consistent methodology and reporting structure while removing roadblocks for future projects.
Project Goals & Objectives
The project will develop the following two models to compliment the current waterfall-based model:
An agile model to follow the SCRUM framework to incorporate efforts of work that are considered continuous workflows to existing products.
A hybrid model that will utilize the strengths of both agile and waterfall methodologies.
The project is slated for completion on July 1, 2021 and will be implemented to align with processes for the new IT Business Management solution from ServiceNow.
